Barbara Moore
English composer, arranger and vocalist who worked in film, television, radio and library music.
Born on 7 March 1932 in Bradford, England.
Died on 27 August 2021 at home in Bognor Regis.
Moore also composed music for commercials and the celebrated production music library De Wolfe Music. She collaborated with Jimi Hendrix, Elton John, Dudley Moore, Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones and many others over her career. A former member of The Ladybirds, she was also the leader of The Barbara Moore Singers. Born as Barbara Birkby, she was the only child of saxophonist and arranger and his wife Clare, who was a singer (a.o. with bandleader ). In 1954 she became Barbara Moore after marrying . They divorced soon after their only child Lindsey was born. She would raise her as a single mother. Barbara Moore was later in a relationship with English jazz trombonist .
