Hot summer rain hits the cracked pavement in uneven rhythms. A neon sign flickers above a café, its warm light reflected in the wet ground like a fever dream. The city hums with an easy tone, holding its breath. A film noir-ish scene needs a soundtrack like “POOL JAMS”, by INIT, a Berlin duo known for Hivern Discs and Optimo Music. Their fourth album is playful, bringing trip hopping feelings with r’n’b grace without cliché. Dub, trance, and drone are interwoven, newly twisted, seducing in style. Nadia D’Alò’s voice dances with partner Benedikt Frey’s grooves. Together, they crafted a dreamy piece made for endless smoky LA freeway drives. You can dream it, trance it, but you can’t escape it.
