Leafar Legov has a long association with Giegling, having previously released a couple of fine EPs and an album as part of Kettenkarussell. Here, he delivers his first solo release for the esteemed German imprint, laying down a quintet of horizontally inclined tracks that put hazy atmospherics and crackling textures at the heart of the action. He begins with the woozy, dreamy ambience of “Talk”, before fusing drawn-out chords, twinkling pianos, soft-focus vocal snippets and hip-hop influenced beats on the deliciously evocative “Years”. On the flip, you’ll find the smoky trip-hop revivalism of “Ladder”, the enveloping, piano-heavy ambience of “Mxhome”, and the moody field records and one-note drone of “Skit”.
