Rumi Sounds was established as an independent label in 2021 under the world music record store Lefter Records, located in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district.

Rumi’s catalog spans diverse genres, yet all its releases share a common thread—music from artists on the move, blending hybrid rhythms and melodies from elsewhere with the sounds and stories of Berlin.

Named after the poet and Sufi mystic Rumi, who left an indelible mark from the Balkans to Bengal, Rumi Sounds is a vinyl label passionately dedicated to the journey of music. By tracing rhythms and melodies as they cross borders, evolve, adapt, and resist categorization, Rumi Sounds embraces a wide array of genres. Our aim is to unearth hidden gems along this musical path and promote new musicians who share this spirit of exploration and migration.
