There\u2019s a<br \/>\ndeepness to their music which is hard to define in its perceptual and<br \/>\nphysical beauty, with each record they have released concerning itself<br \/>\nwith finding the right balance between ethereal textures and technical<br \/>\napplication. This finely struck relationship has allowed the duo to<br \/>\nreally explore the parameters of their sound, engaging the listener<br \/>\nvia sequences which take their time to unravel and hit all the right<br \/>\nnotes when the going gets good. From jazzy steppers through to<br \/>\nbouncing 90s inspired gems, there is little which the pair feel is off<br \/>\nthe table, and that approach is indicative of a healthy mindset<br \/>\ntowards experimentation and ensuring that room is always found to grow<br \/>\ninto and dwell deep within. Giving and taking is always a great sign<br \/>\nwithin electronic music, and Genius Of Time provide the kind of<br \/>\nbreathing space within their music which invites you in and takes you<br \/>\nto very specific and magical kinds of places.<\/p>\n<p>This element of evolution is present and correct as you slide through<br \/>\ntheir previous releases, which have seen the duo pop up on a number of<br \/>\nthe best labels going. Their early works, which include the likes of<br \/>\n\u2018Same Old Place\u2019 (2010), \u2018Drifting Back\u2019 (2011) and \u2018Gliese 581g\u2019<br \/>\n(2011) all drift along at a beautifully laid back pace, allowing for<br \/>\nmaximum engagement through the speakers and as a totality do much to<br \/>\ndraw listeners into their emerging palette of sonics. Records that<br \/>\nfollowed, which included \u2019Tuffa Trummor Med Synt\u2019 (2012), \u2018Juno Jam<br \/>\nEP\u2019 (2014), \u2018Kepler 186f\u2019 (2016), \u2018Voxshot\u2019 (2017) and \u2018Peace Bird\u2019<br \/>\n(2019), shifted the focus into the clubs, the dusty after-hours<br \/>\nsettings, the warm after glow which arrives with the morning sun. If<br \/>\ntheir original sound was all about pairing grooves with imaginative<br \/>\nand searing hot melodic layers, then the second half of their<br \/>\ndiscography was all about the positive aspects of enveloping the dance<br \/>\nin a hypnotic haze.<\/p>\n<p>As two differing sides to the emotive spectrum, there is plenty here<br \/>\nto dive into, and helps to serve us up very nicely indeed to their<br \/>\nlatest effort, \u2018Sunswell\u2019, their first record together in three years.<br \/>\nInkeeping with their most recent efforts, the duo waste no time in<br \/>\nbringing forward some truly special vibes, with the title track<br \/>\nkicking things off in spectacular fashion. Simmering, engrossing<br \/>\nsynths start preceedings, before a delightful breakbeat slides into<br \/>\nview underneath, with 90s leaning vocal samples fuelling the momentum<br \/>\nas we slide onwards and upwards. The additional key work which comes<br \/>\ninto view around the halfway mark ensures that the heart and the soul<br \/>\nare both very much fulfilled. \u2019Taurido Shuffle\u2019 comes next, and this<br \/>\none continues the notions superbly, with a dynamic arpeggio line that<br \/>\nmerges expertly with the stepper beat that emerges underneath, as all<br \/>\nmanner of inspired melodics and rhythmic motifs evolve into the track<br \/>\nas time passes by.
