Ilana Bryne’s deep grooves find their home with her debut EP on Naive. Bryne’s Low Earth Orbit offers nods to her experience of dance music history as a conversation between Chicago and London. Ruffneck breaks, swinging garage drums, and sub-bass grooves mix with bumping house kicks, smooth chords, and melancholy synths.<\/p>\n
Opener ‘Dub Box Medicine’ comes in hard with the breakbeats and bass for the dance floor but also invokes an inspirational rush of melody and soundclash samples: ‘You see this tune, If you have a problem in life, listen to this’. ‘Feelin’ Myself” gives us soft electric keys drifting beautifully over chunky, driving drums, when all of a sudden bubbling acid and a Blade Runner-esque synth line widens eyes and darkens the mood.<\/p>\n
‘Mmm Mmm Mmm’ brings out Bryne’s love for the sound of late-90s London with shuffling garage percussion and nocturnal chords, creating a groove so natural it could last forever.
