{"id":15903,"count":1,"description":"","link":"https:\/\/yoyaku.io\/es\/artist\/anthony-anaxagorou\/","name":"Anthony Anaxagorou","slug":"anthony-anaxagorou","taxonomy":"musicartist","meta":{"artist_discogs_id":6475729,"artist_discogs_url":"https:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/6475729-Anthony-Anaxagorou","artist_image_id":637877,"artist_real_name":"","artist_profile":"Poet and writer from the UK.\r\n\r\nBorn in March 1983 in London, UK.\r\n\r\nIn 2002 Anaxagorou was the first young poet to win the London Mayor's Poetry Slam with his poem \"Anthropos\".\r\n\r\nIn 2003, he appeared alongside fellow poet Kate Tempest on Young Nation, presented by Richard Blackwood, where he performed a number of poems themed around social issues relating to young people. He went on to feature as a member of the panel on the talk show itself, which focused on wider issues such as racism, history, religion, addiction and abuse, encouraging young people to speak out and voice their thoughts.\r\n\r\nHis poetry has been published in POETRY, The Poetry Review, Poetry London, New Statesman, Granta, and  appeared on BBC Newsnight, BBC Radio 4, ITV, Vice UK, Channel 4 and Sky Arts.\r\n\r\nHis second collection \u2018After the Formalities\u2019 published with Penned in the Margins is a Poetry Book Society recommendation and was shortlisted for the 2019 T.S Eliot Prize. It was also a Telegraph and Guardian poetry book of the year.\r\n\r\nHe was awarded the 2019 H-100 Award for writing and publishing, and the 2015 Groucho Maverick Award for his poetry and fiction. In 2019 he was made an honorary fellow of the University of Roehampton. Anthony is artistic director of Out-Spoken, a monthly poetry and music night held at London\u2019s Southbank Centre, and publisher of Out-Spoken Press.
