YAMU010 will comprise two original cuts in the shape of ‘This Must Be The Way’ and ‘Final Days’ with a reworking of each track by the aforementioned producers Varhat and Audio Werner.

The gurgling groove which hisses and splutters at the inception of ‘This Must Be The Way’ flows uneasily throughout this EP’s opening cut. A barely audible vocal chatters as the initial beat transitions via grinding bass and a gnawing spring like synth which uncoils gradually whilst under constant duress from murky dub fills, wiry kicks and clunking percussion.

Varhat’s reworking of ‘This Must Be The Way’ veers more towards the deep end of the house gamut, employing a sweet whirring ensemble of rotating sonics with the French wizard bringing those hewed lyrics of the original edit more the forefront. The twin male and female vocals seemly tag in-and-out through waves of misty measures made from choppy chords, smooth grooves and swollen synth patterns.

On ‘Final Days’ a chugging, basement ready beat kicks off proceedings amidst a fizzing oscillation of pumping chords, offbeat melodics and creeping pads. A shadowy mix of stuttering percussive elements, such as tumbling cymbals and sparsely placed toms, crunch away whilst glossy tones shimmer and pan throughout the rhythm.

Finally, Audio Werner’s remix of ‘Final Days’ completes this sturdy 4-track release with the same cool, unassuming energy as the original. But, as the opening rhythm glides into life, it’s clear Werner’s distinct laidback influence is present interchanging the breezy ambience for assertive drive and loading up crisp off-beat hi-hats and intricate, immersive melodies.
