Yussef Dayes releases his highly anticipated debut solo studio album ‘Black Classical Music’ on Brownswood. Together with Kamaal Williams, the multi-instrumentalist and visionary shone on the Yussef Kamaal album ‘Black Focus’, which won the Jazz FM Newcomer Award 2016 and became a milestone in the current London jazz movement. ‘Black Classical Music’ is a 19-track opus that allows listeners to look through a mirror at the influential artist’s past and present, while exploring themes of home and family. Yussef draws inspiration from his musical heroes Miles Davis and Rahsaan Roland Kirk and his extensive travels around the globe, which have deepened his study of rhythm. Honorable features on ‘Black Classical Music’ bring Chronixx, Jamilah Barry, Tom Misch, Shabaka Hutchings, Miles James, Sheila Maurice Grey, Nathaniel Cross, Theon Cross and the Chineke!
