Riding Alongside The Ocean

Hot on the heels of his rather good CYCLOPS TRX two-tracker, which featured a sublime 14-minute chunk of chiming techno brilliance, Levon Vincent offers up a speedy sequel o the Novel Sound label he founded way back in 2008. He begins in moody fashion via the dark, creeping title track, ‘Riding Alongside The Ocean’, where woozy, foghorn-esque synthesizer tones and creepy cymbal patterns ride a post-apocalyptic techno groove. Over on the flip, he delivers a remarkable translation of the same cut – the more percussive, bass-heavy and oddly jazzy ‘Ocean (Dub)’ – before putting on a happy face and unleashing the cheery, synth-heavy piano house/deep house fusion that is ‘Sunlight’.
